GF broke up with me because I want to watch the World Cup. Seriously? Knn

We are officially over. My girlfriend of two years just packed her things and walked out, all because I wanted to spend my free time watching the World Cup. Like, hello?? Come on lah, it’s not everyday the World Cup happens right? It’s once every four years! It is literally the biggest sporting event on the planet, but apparently to her, me sitting on the couch for a few weeks to catch the matches is a crime against humanity.

If she cannot even respect my interest and give me some space for a one-month tournament, then honestly? I am glad she is gone. Good riddance.

It’s only fair, what. Let’s look at the double standards here. Every single time we go shopping at VivoCity or Orchard, the exact moment she sees Sephora, she will just automatically drift inside like she got hypnotized. I am a guy. It’s not like I got any interest in what color of eye shadow is trending or which brand of concealer is better, right? To me, everything looks exactly the same. But do I complain? Do I sit outside on the bench and pull a black face? No.

I try my best to participate. I stand there in the crowded shop, carry her shopping bags, and when she asks me for my opinion, I actually look and tell her which colors I think suit her or what my preference is. I put in the effort to be present in her world, even when I’m bored out of my mind.

But when it’s my turn, and I just want to watch ninety minutes of football with a cold beer after a stressful day at work? Cannot. Immediately becomes “you don’t care about me,” “you neglect me,” and “the television is more important than your girlfriend.”

The hypocrisy is just next level. A relationship is supposed to be about give and take. If I can tolerate standing in Sephora for an hour looking at fifty shades of red lipstick, the least you can do is let me support my team in peace without making me feel guilty about it.

I’m just so done with the emotional blackmail. If a guy’s minor, harmless hobby is enough to break a relationship, then the foundation was already messed up anyway. To anyone else dealing with this kind of nonsense right now: do not let them guilt-trip you. Enjoy the matches, brothers. Knn.
