GF QUESTIONING IF SHE IS RIGHT TO NOT PAY FOR DATES WITH HER BF

Am I wrong for not paying in my relationship? I’ve been with my boyfriend for 2 years.

He always took pride in “his girlfriends never having to pay anything”, supposedly it’s because he’s from the some atas country.

That said, he always paid for all expenses with his previous girlfriends and pumped so much money into gifts for them (bags, dates, even paying for their friends). Since I’m with him we always split every bill for vacay (flight and airbnb) evenly. He always paid for our food tho (but I always told him I was fine with whatever food, he always wanted to go to good restaurants). Well I made it a habit so slip him a $100 after vacations like this. I’m a student and not working full time, he’s been working full time for several years.

Also, I always offered to pay. He always refused. Even when we’re at home I always tell him not to go get coffee together and making a point trying to save up his money for him. He has never saved a dime before he was with me. I inspired him to do it and always refused expensive gifts or expenses that are avoidable. I never want him to spend much on me. If we go for drinks or get takeout he’a the one that inspires it and wants to do it. Anyways We recently got into an argument about how he feels like I never pay for anything which makes me feel dumbfounded. It’s true, most of the time I don’t pay for our drinks/ food etc. And if I sometimes do he will refuse and l’Il literally have to urge him to let me pay. It’s weird for me and I feel offended. I’m the first girlfriend of his that doesn’t deal with his money as in fun money.

But he want to be a “gentleman” by showing off his money.
