GIRL LEFT S’PORE AIRPORT WITH HALF-EATEN SANDWICH, FINED @2.6K IN AUSTRALIA

TikTok user @_jessicaleeee shared how she bought a footlong sandwich from Subway at the Singapore Airport because she was hungry following an 11-hour-long flight.

The 19-year-old girl ate half of the sandwich and wanted to save the other half for her flight home from Singapore to Australia.

After landing in Australia, she was trying to get through the customs but was apparently issued a fine of A$2,664 (SGD$2,535) for not declaring the chicken and lettuce in her sandwich.

She tried to explain herself to the authorities that she didn’t know she had to fill up a form for the food that she brought in, thinking that it was only for carry-ons and luggage.

However, her explanation fell on deaf ears and she was made to pay the fine anyway.

The Australia Department of Agriculture and Water Resources confirmed that travellers who provide “false or misleading information” face a fine of up to A$2,664 (which Jessica was made to pay).
