When I first met her, I felt a connection. Her green eyes sparkled in the light, and her hair framed her face perfectly. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. I knew I had to get to know her better.
We talked for a while, but I could tell she wasn’t interested. She seemed to be unimpressed with the way I dress and my lack of money. To be honest, it was a bit disheartening. I wanted to make a good impression on her but it seemed like I was failing miserably.
Little did I know, she would soon become very interested in me. It all started when I told her I was a lawyer and that I had some money. Her eyes lit up and she began to fawn over me. It was like I was a whole new person in her eyes.
At first, I was a bit taken aback. I had never experienced this kind of sudden shift in someone’s opinion of me before. I mean, I had always been successful in my career and I had done well for myself financially, but I was never the object of someone’s admiration just because of those things.
I couldn’t help but be a bit suspicious.
Was she only interested in me because I was a lawyer and had money? I had to admit, it was a bit flattering, but I was also a bit confused. I wanted to know why she had changed her opinion of me so quickly.
I decided to bring it up in conversation and ask her why she was suddenly interested in me. She told me that she had always been attracted to my personality and looks, but she didn’t think I was as “successful” as she wanted in a partner. She said that when she found out I was a lawyer and had some money, she knew I was the kind of guy she was looking for.
I’ll admit, it felt good to be wanted for my success and my money. But at the same time, it made me a bit uncomfortable. I wanted to know that she liked me for me, not just my career and bank account.
We talked about it some more and she assured me that she was interested in me for who I am and not just what I do. She said that she had always been attracted to me and that finding out I was a lawyer and had some money had just made her even more interested.
I was relieved, but I had to admit, I don’t believe her at all.
