A girl shared how her PRC boyfriend of 1 year plus is breaking up with her to return to China and take care of his mother, and she is okay with it.
Here is the story:
“My bf of 1 year plus just broke up with me. He is not a local, but a PRC who came here before Covid to pursue a PhD in NUS. I am a working adult, both of us are same age.
I know very well that this day will come. He is the only son in the family, and he does not have any family members here. So from Day 1 of relationship, I know very well that we will end sooner or later if our parents are against our relationship.
He told his mother about me, and his mother told him that he needs to be back to his own country, cause when they are old, they might need someone to take care of them. And I absolutely have nothing to say about this cause I am currently working in healthcare sector, and I know extremely well how people can turn very frail once they are older.
He cried over the phone, told me that he didn’t wanted to let me down, we knew each other since the lockdown started and since then, we been supporting each other as friends and now as partner.
I don’t want to make him choose between his parents or me, neither do I want to become his burden. So when he asked to break up, I said ok, let’s do that then.
I am just a average girl, and I didn’t think of going over to China since my family is all here. Tbh I like him first so I made the first move, didn’t think that I would like someone that much before this.
I always thought I will never fall into a relationship again after my first love. But well, life is full of surprises.”
