A passer-by has been praised online after staying beside an elderly man who had fallen in Serangoon, supporting his head on the hot pavement for around 20 minutes while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
The incident happened on Aug. 29, 2026, at around 10.30am near Block 254A Serangoon Central Drive. Property agent Kenny Seah was conducting a roadshow nearby when he heard a sudden sound and turned to see an elderly man lying on his back outside a stall.
Several people had already gathered around the man, who appeared to have very little response. Within minutes, another man reportedly ran over from a nearby playground to check on him.
Passer-by Refuses To Leave Elderly Man Alone
The passer-by then lowered himself onto the ground and used his arms to support the elderly man’s head, keeping it steady while waiting for emergency assistance.
It was reportedly a particularly hot morning, with the elderly man lying directly beneath the sun. Another member of the public stepped in with an umbrella, positioning it to provide shade, while someone else helped fan the elderly man to keep him comfortable.
A further passer-by arrived carrying a blood-pressure monitor and checked the elderly man’s condition while the group waited for medical assistance.
According to Seah, the Good Samaritan remained in that position for approximately 20 minutes, continuing to support the man’s head without leaving his side.
When emergency personnel arrived, they assessed the elderly man before carefully lifting him from the ground. The Good Samaritan only released his hands once the medical team had taken over.
Elderly Man Taken To Hospital
Seah said the elderly man had suffered bleeding from his head. Medical personnel treated the injury by bandaging it before placing him onto a stretcher chair.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed that it had received a call for assistance following the incident. One person was subsequently conveyed to Sengkang General Hospital.
What happened after the ambulance arrived was just as striking for Seah.
A colleague approached the Good Samaritan and told him that she had taken a photograph of him while he was helping the elderly man. However, the man reportedly declined the attention and simply shook his head.
He then walked back towards the nearby playground, where a child was waiting for him.
‘He Wasn’t Looking For Recognition’
For Seah, the man’s quiet departure was what made the incident particularly meaningful.
Rather than waiting to be thanked or seeking recognition, the man had apparently noticed someone in need, immediately stepped forward and stayed until professional help arrived.
The incident has since drawn attention online, with many people praising the Good Samaritan and the other passers-by who stopped to assist.
Their actions also highlight how members of the public can make a difference during an emergency — whether by providing shade, monitoring someone’s condition or simply staying nearby until trained medical personnel arrive.
For Seah, however, it was the man’s willingness to lie on the scorching pavement and patiently support the elderly man’s head that stood out most.
He said he decided to record and share the moment because he felt the quiet act of kindness deserved to be seen.
