A group of 16 people had a feast at a restaurant in Woodlands on Thursday evening, chalking up a bill of about $1,188.
They then left without paying the bill.
The restaurant, Rasa Istimewa Waterfront Restaurant, said that they haven’t reported the matter to the police, hoping not to complicate the situation, but will do so if the freeloaders continue to avoid payment.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the incident happened on 21 July, and no one from the group of 16 have returned to make payment.
The restaurant spoke to SMDN saying that they are giving the group of diners the benefit of the doubt, that they might have forgotten to make payment, or that they thought one of their friends was going to make payment but no one did.
The group of 16 had ordered two set meals of about $238 each, along with 60 satays, and assorted beverages.
They then left the restaurant after finishing their meal and the staff didn’t stop them, because they thought they had already paid the bill.
They only realised that the bill for the table was not settled when the restaurant was less busy after 9pm, and they didn’t have their contact details as the group were walk in customers.
It has since been 5 days since the incident and no one has stepped forward to make payment.
