A guy shared as story of how he has always taken one of his customer’s name as this and has been calling him this for almost six months only to find out that the customer’s name is that when closing the deal with him.
What is worse is that he was not the one to find out and the customer did not bother to correct him and it was only when his colleague was doing the paperwork and the customer took out his identity card that they realised that they have been addressing him wrongly for the past six months.
Here is the story
“I’ve been selling cars now for about a year. Near the end of last June I met a walk in customer at my car showroom who came in to have a look.
We exchanged information and I understood his name to be lets just call him AS.
He and his wife were looking for a vehicle which was luxurious enough yet not too expensive but we did not have what he wanted at that time.
We are a car show room that basically deals with second hand cars.
Since we did not have what he wanted, he told me to call him anytime if I can find something within his expectations as he was not in a rush to buy a car as well.
After almost six months, we had a car that met his expectations and I phoned him hoping that he had not got a car yet as you know usually people do not wait that long to get a car.
Surprisingly and luckily enough for me, he did not get a car yet.
He and wife came down to view, both were satisfied and they decided to buy the car.
He’s a nice man, not much bargaining which made the deal easy to close.
So I asked our admin girl to see to the paper work for me.
Legit 20 minutes after I asked my admin girl to help him with the paperwork, she comes to me and says, “you know his name is AX right?”
My jaw hit my desk. Why have I not realised this mistake for half a year!? More importantly, why on Earth would he not correct me?!”
