I just got a significant pay raise and now my family is asking me for financial favors
I (21M) was making $28k a year in an entry level position in retail. I recently switched careers and landed in a mid-level management position for $52k + benefits. It’s no cushy office job, but I can at least afford all of my expenses.
I shared my good news with my ‘family’. (Maybe I should mention my family is by no means rich or even middle class). I had always considered supporting some of the less fortunate ones of my family should and when I do land a cushy office job, but $52k is not a shareable income.
My cousin (17M) complained about how his phone is acting up and wanted to know if I could help a bro out. His phone (iPhone 7) is just fine, but slow.
This was just 2 days after sharing the news. I’m sure all the family that I don’t even talk to often will come out of the woodwork to complain about problems of this same caliber expecting me to help.
I’m just so frustrated.
