Dishonest Hawker. What Should I do?
Recently went to a well known hawker center and one of the store (not going to say who scare kena sue for defamation) was extremely dishonest.
Gave me $2 change for $50 note when the meal cost $8. I swore to the gods that I gave $50. So I looked at the reviews of that stall online and there were reviews from others saying that the owner was dishonest to them as well.
One guy even commented that he paid through paylah and the stall owner said she didn’t receive. Not the only bad review too.
Also, I’m thinking of calling the police but maybe I should stage a situation to gather more evidence first to send this “evil spirit in human skin to the gallows”. What should I do?

- $50 is a tangible amount. What a scam.
I might or might not have made a scene depending on the environment at that time.
But it’s no joke to just blatantly take someone’s $50 and do this kind of things.
I really wish you would be inclined to reveal more, but I acknowledge your hesitation behind it as well. - Paste a decal sticker warning about this hawker on every table at the hawker centre. W move.
- If you didn’t call the police right then and there, you’ve got no recourse I’m afraid.
- OP sacrifice yourself and buy from them again, record the whole thing
- I was gaslighted when I gave a $10 for a Teh Peng and got a few cents back. She insisted I gave a $2, and kept asking me to check my wallet. I was sure about myself coz I remembered it was the last $10 I had. I didn’t back down, and in the end she returned me the proper change. That same week, the runner shortchanged me for my Teh Peng.
I got annoyed coz I’m usually cordial with my favourite coffeeshop Lady Boss and the runners. I wonder if it was a thing they were “trying out” but which didn’t work out, coz these incidents hadn’t happened again. Price increase happened instead
