GUY SAW WHAT HIS ONLINE GF REALLY LOOK LIKE IN REAL LIFE, DUMPED HER CAUSE NOT CHIO

I broke up with my girlfriend because I found her unattractive

I started dating my friend (online) that lived pretty close to me. I’d never seen what she looked like before and she told me she was worried I wouldn’t like her anymore after showing me, but I assured her that appearances don’t matter to me.

I’d never really had any sort of standard for appearances before this, so I was really surprised because when she eventually showed me what she looked like, I was immediately given an ick.

I felt horrible, because up until then we’d been really romantic with each other, but for some reason as soon as I saw her all emotions dropped.

I tried to keep the relationship going for a few more weeks, but I knew deep down things wouldn’t work. I never insulted her appearance or anything, and when the topic was brought up I would compliment her.

I can’t even point out why I was given the ick, it’s just something that happened and I can’t explain it at all.

When we broke up, I never told her the true reason I stopped having feelings for her. I feel like that’s not really something you should say to someone, as it would be insulting their appearance, something very personal to them.

Especially after she’d expressed so much worry about showing me what she looked like. but I felt really bad keeping it to myself, so I came here to get it off of my chest because I haven’t really told anybody yet.

Netizens’ comments

  1. I mean you’ve a right to date who you want. You’re totally justified to break up with a person for whatever reason you want.
  2. not finding someone attractive isnt a crime. its not that shes not beautiful either. i dont like sushi that doesnt mean it cant be a delicious meal, heck theres 5 star sushi restaurants. I applaud how you handled the situation maturely and in a grown up fashion.
  3. Don’t feel bad it happens to all of us. I dated a guy online and thought he was really cute, things got deep over texting and what not and I was excited to meet him. Then we finally meet in person and his voice was high pitched. I have a thing for voices so I was completely thrown off by how his sounded but I also got the ick from him for a few other reasons and we cut things off. Just remember this is completely normal especially with online dating.
  4. Perhaps while having this revelation and being very romantic with her you had a picture of her in your mind that is way better than what you saw.
