Context: Just finished bmt and 23 this year and i’m a year into uni (UOL-SIM) studying econs,
as you can tell i screwed up poly life too and decided to try for my degree in SIM but i couldn’t really focus on studying
and now my exams are coming up (i’m having anxiety attacks and couldn’t sleep at night thinking what should i tell my parents and what should i do going forward).
I’m 80% sure i will fail my exams and now i’m so lost on what to do. Should I drop out and work? I don’t think i can find a job with poly diploma gpa 2.3 (Accountancy) or should I drop out to rmit and it will take two years or remodule and restart my uol degree?
I’m so stressed and lost now i can’t even or sleep properly
all advice welcomed

- How about you stfu and start studying instead of posting here
- Having a university degree (even if your grades aren’t awesome) is much much better than a poly diploma nowadays, especially given the huge pay difference.
Qualifications wise, UOL-SIM degree holders still seem to be paid better than RMIT-SIM degree holders (at least from what I’ve seen in my industry).
The other ideas such as dropping out, re-moduling or switching to another degree program is frankly, only an option if you have the time and money to burn. You’ll be around 26-27 by the time you graduate, which is still pretty normal in SG.
Grades are only important for you to get access to the “better” jobs or get your foot into “management programmes” or “internships”, but frankly once you have a couple of years under your belt, nobody really looks at that anymore other than that you can bring to the table.
I would highly suggest that instead of stressing out and panicking, lock yourself into seclusion (either at the SIM library or at home) and try to study as much as possible so that you can pass the modules. You’ll probably need 2 weeks of intense study (assuming your study notes are decent) and memorization at the least and getting time from your lecturers to cover certain topics will definitely help and getting off Reddit/mobile phone for starters would be a good place to start.
Chin up OP. The world doesn’t end if you fail a module or two, it just means that you’ll take longer and more money to get your degree.
Start studying and all the best! - I’m 29 and am currently doing my PT degree in SUSS. I’ve learnt that at my age, there are people in a worst starting point than me. Try watching the CNA insider on the prison inmate, if you think you have a worst starting point than them then I guess I will have no choice but to applaud you.
My past several years of working jobs that were not beneficial to my career have left me devastated and even led to me having anxiety talking about it. I ended up hating meeting old friends because they are bound to ask about your jobs, what else can you ask when meeting old friends, right? haha
And I have got a worse GPA than you back in poly, trust me, regret is one of the best motivation but that is only if you are willing to waste the next 6 fucking years of your life doing low wage meaningless jobs.
Okay, after that huge wall of useless texts above, to answer your question, you should first seek help. If you feel like you have messed up some of your courses, try emailing your school asking for a retake of the courses. Also, try having some outdoor hobbies over the weekend. I understand how difficult it can be to self-study when your mind just wouldn’t stop being restless.
