GUY WALKS OUT OF JOB INTERVIEW AFTER SEEING THE BOSS SCREAMING AT THE STAFF

I walked out of a job interview today after the interviewer berated an employee in front of me.

Retail, a bullshit job I neither want or need, but I was just looking for some extra side income to bolster my finances for the time being.

3 minutes into this interview, the door is open, a staff member comes in and asked when the boss will they be done with the interview because there is a customer who needs something.

No. “sorry, I am busy” or “tell X to deal with it”

…straight into “Jesus christ! It’s SUNDAY and I am INTERVIEWING can’t anyone DO ANYTHING themselves here!” in that just bordering on shouting voice that toxic managers do.

So I stood up, and said “I don’t want the job anymore” and I left.

I hope my leaving didn’t get the staff member in any more trouble than she already had, who knows maybe she will leave too.

Netizens’ comments

  1. One bad manager can send a whole store down the toilet
  2. Good for you! Standing up for yourself is always the best motto. How someone treats employees is an pretty indication of how you would’ve been treated. I’ve had some toxic manager situations and doing this would’ve saved me lots of pain.
  3. People don’t leave jobs, they leave managers. -some wise person
  4. Retail is hell to begin with. You dodged a bullet
  5. Don’t forget to write online reviews. Do your duty and warn others
  6. Glad you had the balls to walk. Would be nice if the manager learned something about herself, but I doubt it
  7. You did the right thing. If I was the employee I would love you forever.
Also, I dunno what the policies are at this place, but when I worked retail there were lots of things we couldn’t do without approval from management, and if managers were busy we’d end up waiting in front of an irritated customer. So even if they hadn’t yelled they might have still been putting the employee in a bad position, and that’s still indicative of bad management.
    You dodged a bullet.
