HELP! I live on the 2nd floor and recently a particular smoker keeps littering his cigarette butts and it lands on my window ledge/aircon compressor (at times it’s still slightly burning)

I’m concerned as there are days that everyone’s out working and i’m afraid it’ll cause a fire

Potential penalties
Littering is an offence in Singapore and is defined as dropping, placing or throwing any article or t hing in a public place except a rubbish bin.
Persons caught littering face a fine of up to $2,000 for the first offence as well as the possibility of Corrective Work Order.
Netizens’ comments
- Make a report to NEA about this. State your column number, unit level and the affected windows, to make the officers’ lives easier in tracking down the culprit unit. If there are regula timings at which you notice the cigarette butts being littered, inform them too as it can be a handy piece of information
- As a short term measure, I would also suggest closing the windows at night, didn’t know my neighbors smoking at midnight while I was sleeping until some time ago
- Just want to share that NEA is very responsive to complaints. I called the hotline before because the construction site opposite my bedroom window had diesel engines running many hours and I could smell the exhaust fumes.
Within a day or two the NEA officer called me back and gave me feedback on what he found.
