Veteran TVB actor Benz Hui made an appearance at his daughter’s baked goods booth at Ang Mo Kio Hub, helping her sell her products and turning the location into an impromptu “meet and greet” session with fans.
Hui’s daughter is running a bakery and Hong Kong-style cafe here in Singapore, and he was in attendance at her stall to support her.
He was spotted on Monday evening (4 April) at a pop up booth in Ang Mo Kio Hub, promoting his daughter’s baked goods such as pineapple buns and egg tarts, while sipping on a cup of the shop’s Juju Milk Tea.
Many passing shoppers who spotted the popular actor, crowded around the booth and took pictures of him, with the place turning into some sort of fan meet.
The 74-year-old veteran actor was also happily obliging fan requests to take photos with him (as well as “of” him).
Hui spoke to Shin Min Daily News and said that he is grateful to everyone for their support, as he made light of his seeming celebrity powers.
He added that he will be making more appearances at his daughter’s baked goods booth over the next 6 evenings.
Hui’s daughter, Charmine, had opened three eateries in Singapore within 2 years, with her first entree into the Food and Beverage business being the Cafe Bakeaholic which was opened at Springleaf.
The second outlet was opened at Wheelock Place early last year, before she started the Hong Kong-styled cafe JUJU a few months later beside the Bakeaholic outlet at Wheelock Place.
Charmaine’s JUJU outlet, where her father will be making appearances, is located at Basement 2 of Ang Mo Kio Hub, in front of the Malaysia Boleh food court.
He will be there until 9 April.
