HONDA CIVIC DRIVER ALLEGEDLY DAMAGED CARPARK GANTRY TO AVOID PAYING PARKING

A video emerged online showing a Honda Civic driver readjusting a CCTV camera at a carpark, as well as pushing away the gantry barrier in order to allegedly avoid paying the parking fee.

The incident happened on 25 November at about 12.59am, at the carpark of Parkland Shopping Mall.

The netizen who shared the video, captioned it: “twisted camera breaking the screw and proceeded to push the exit barrier to avoid paying parking fees after drinking in one of the bars/ktvs in Parklane Shopping Mall!”

The man was seen in the video readjusting the CCTV camera as his female companion joined him, and he later went to push the barrier at the gantry.

The stealing, destroying, or damaging of any private and/or public property is an offence under Section 2 of the Vandalism Act.

Persons found guilty of vandalism face a fine of up to $2,000, or a jail term of up to 3 years, and caning of between 3 to 8 strokes.
