A video emerged online showing a Honda Civic suddenly bursting into flames inexplicably while trying to exit a gantry on December 19.
The driver was apparently on his way to Singapore from Malaysia via the Sultan Abu Bakar CIQ Complex, heading towards the Tuas Checkpoint.
Video footage of the explosion was subsequently shared widely all over social media.
In the video, the car was seen trying to exit and nearing a gantry when it suddenly burst into flames, causing the car to come to a complete halt immediately.
Following the incident, the owner of the car then took to Facebook to share his lighthearted view on the fire, calling it a spontaneous BBQ session.

Car owner’s response
Hey everyone, buckle up for the wild ride I just had! So, imagine my beloved car deciding it’s time for a spontaneous BBQ session. Yep, flames and all! Now, I’ve poured my heart, soul, and probably more cash than I’d like to admit into this baby. Yet, it always seems like there’s something new popping up, am I right?
But thank god—I’m always ready with my fire extinguisher! Fuel rails on fire? No big deal! Within 45 seconds, I had that situation under control.
Check out the pics, though. Minimal damage, thanks to being ready for the worst in this crazy motorsport world. And hey, for those who asked about us, we’re all doing fine! Gotta give credit to the big guy upstairs and everyone’s blessings for that.
Now to be honest balancing a race car and a daily driver? It’s like trying to balance an elephant on a rope, but luckily, this time, the damage was minimal and no major hits to the engine, chassis, or even my fresh paint job
Lesson learned: injector leaks are troublemakers. But hey, having a fire extinguisher on hand is also a Lifesaver. Trust me on that guys now I have another experience to share.
