According to the Police media release, a 45-year-old man was arrested for his alleged involvement in multiple cases of hotel room booking scams.
Background:
On 28 December 2021, the Police received a report from a victim that he/she has been created by a man and the victim did not get the promised hotel booking after payment.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Division were able to uncover the identity of the man who arrested him in less than 6 hours.
It is believed that the man is involved in multiple of such cases.
The man was brought to court on 30 December and charged for cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
Penalties
If the man is found guilty he will be facing up to 10 years jail along with a fine

The media release warns members of the public to take precautions before making any transactions online and to only buy from authorized dealers.
