The incident was uploaded by SG Road Vigilante (SGRV) on YouTube, where the clip quickly attracted thousands of views and dozens of angry comments.

According to the video caption, the incident allegedly took place at around 4am on May 31 inside the MCE tunnel.

The footage appeared to show a modified e-bike travelling on the expressway alongside regular vehicles despite such devices being prohibited from using expressways in Singapore.

The rider was also allegedly not wearing a helmet while speeding through the tunnel.

NETIZENS MOCK RIDER WHILE QUESTIONING ENFORCEMENT

The viral clip triggered a wave of sarcastic and frustrated comments online, with many questioning where enforcement officers were during the incident.

Several commenters jokingly compared the rider to military personnel on a “special operation”, while others sarcastically referred to the e-bike as a “new light strike vehicle”.

Others were less amused and criticised authorities for allegedly failing to clamp down on illegal or modified e-bikes.

Some netizens pointed out that the MCE tunnel contains numerous surveillance cameras and questioned how the rider could allegedly travel through the expressway unnoticed.

One commenter wrote that motorists pay road tax, insurance, and Certificate of Entitlement (COE) costs, yet still have to share roads with allegedly illegal vehicles.

Another claimed that enforcement actions against illegal e-bikes are inconsistent, saying authorities conduct occasional crackdowns but the devices continue to appear on roads.

ILLEGAL E-BIKES REMAIN A HOT TOPIC IN SINGAPORE

The issue of modified or illegally used e-bikes has remained a controversial topic in Singapore over recent years, especially after multiple accidents involving pedestrians, cyclists, and road users.

Under Singapore regulations, electric bicycles must comply with Land Transport Authority (LTA) rules and are generally not allowed on expressways.

Riders are also required to wear helmets when riding on roads.

Modified e-bikes capable of travelling at excessive speeds have repeatedly raised safety concerns among members of the public.

While some netizens found humour in the latest viral clip, many others expressed concern that such behaviour could eventually lead to a serious accident inside the tunnel.

At the time of writing, it is unclear whether enforcement action has been taken against the rider shown in the video.
