S’PORE-REGISTERED CAR DRIVER CAUGHT SHAKING VEHICLE WHILE PUMPING PETROL IN JB, INTERNET AMUSED

The incident reportedly took place at a Petronas petrol station in Bukit Chagar, JB, and the clip quickly went viral after being shared online.

In the video, an orange Singapore-registered Toyota MPV with a private-hire decal can be seen parked beside a fuel pump while the driver repeatedly uses his leg to shake the vehicle.

The man was seen holding the petrol nozzle with both hands while pushing against the side of the car to create a rocking motion.

The fuel hose attached to the pump could also be seen swaying along with the vehicle.

CHILD SEEN INSIDE VEHICLE AS DRIVER ROCKS CAR

Adding to the internet’s amusement, silhouettes of passengers could reportedly be seen inside and beside the vehicle during the unusual scene.

A woman and a young boy stood beside the car watching the man’s actions, while another child appeared to remain seated inside the MPV as the vehicle rocked back and forth.

The video was uploaded by SG Road Vigilante Admin, which alleged that the driver had occupied the petrol pump for around five minutes while performing the stunt.

The uploader also described the act as inconsiderate towards other motorists waiting to refuel.

Netizens quickly flooded the comments section with jokes, with many comparing the man’s actions to a parent rocking a baby to sleep.

One commenter sarcastically wrote that the driver was probably “rocking the baby inside the car”.

Another joked that the driver was treating the petrol tank like a baby milk bottle, hoping to squeeze in a little more.

NETIZENS SAY SHAKING CAR DOES NOT HELP ADD MORE PETROL

Despite the humour, many online users questioned whether the shaking actually helped increase the amount of petrol entering the tank.

Some pointed out that the driver may have only been risking damage to the vehicle’s suspension system instead.

Others criticised the behaviour, saying motorists should avoid overfilling their fuel tanks.

According to experts previously interviewed by local media, shaking a car while pumping petrol does not actually allow significantly more fuel to enter the tank.

In fact, overfilling can potentially cause petrol to enter the vehicle’s fuel evaporation system, which may result in expensive repair costs later on.

The clip has since continued circulating online, with many Singaporean and Malaysian netizens poking fun at the unusual “fuel-saving technique”.
