What happened

On 30 July 2020 at about 10pm, Yong boarded a bus with two other men who were also intoxicated.

The bus driver, Saravanan Narayanan, 32-years-old, noticed that Yong had failed to tap his EZ Link card to pay the bus fare and asked him if he had tapped his card.

The driver also noticed that Yong was not wearing his mask properly and asked him to put it on properly.

Yong then insisted that he had done so and a dispute broke out because he thought that the bus driver was being rude to him.
