MAN ALLEGEDLY HELPED AH LONG THROW MOLOTOV INTO RESIDENT’S HOME

Chan Suan Guan, 24-years-old, allegedly helped a loan shark to throw a Molotov cocktail into a house at Yio Chu Kang on 25 April 2020.

He is also being accused of an offence under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act by leaving his home without a reasonable excuse that day to throw the Molotov at the home, which was during the circuit breaker.

Separately, he is also being accused of causing the death of a motorcyclist with his van by driving recklessly.

Chan was expected to be convicted today (3 January) but the case has since been adjourned, citing his defence lawyer’s need to take instructions from his client.

He allegedly started his crime spree in November 2019 after he allegedly helped a certain “Kimberly” to carry out loan shark activities by handing over his ATM card and identification number linked to a bank account.

He continued helping the said “Kimberly” until 1 April 2020.

Chan is expected to plead guilty to his charges on 3 February and is currently facing 9 charges related to loan shark activities.
