Singapore presidential hopeful, 75-year-old Ng Kok Song, posted on his TikTok (@ngkoksongofficial) about how he recently met up with the youths of Singapore on National Day to share how the elected president can safeguard their interests.
Among those in attendance were influencers Dew Francis, Lukey Chan, Simonboy and DJ Jade Rasif; as Ng was also accompanied by his 45-year-old wife Sybil Lau.
Jade Rasif commented on a repost of her meeting with Ng on Wake Up Singapore‘s Instagram page, sharing her impression and perception of the presidential candidate.
She said that they discussed about his motivations and how she probed him about his experience, and he appeared to be competent to handle fiscal matters.
She also said that she didn’t need to meet him for any “clout”, and that she could’ve posted a bikini photo and got three times the engagement.
What Jade Rasif thinks of Ng Kok Song
“Although I didn’t post about it, I did meet Ng Kok Song and his fiancé on National Day. We mainly discussed his motivations and probed him on his experience handling our National reserves as group chief investment officer at our sovereign wealth fund (GIC).
Considering his ability to veto the budget I probed him quite abit on his experience. My impression is he seems the most experienced & competent candidate to handle our fiscal matters. It seems that he has a genuine love for the country and wants to oversee how funds are handled.
My criticism would be – although he was never in the PAP, as leader of GIC, how independent he is as a candidate remains to be seen. I wouldve also like to hear about his willingness to grant clemency for inmates on death row.
I grilled him on how he would have used his presidential powers differently if he had been elected 4 years ago, but did not get specifics.
to be clear, I don’t need this for clout. I could get 3x the engagement in a bikini. I went because i care about fiscal matters, I care about the recent use of the MRHA against friends.
I care about the DP. Ideally a candidate will align with as many of my values as possible. It affects my family.”
