Mediacorp is set to enchant viewers once again with the much-anticipated blockbuster drama “Emerald Hill,” a spin-off of the immensely popular TV series “The Little Nyonya” that captivated audiences from 2008 to 2009.
The star-studded cast includes renowned local actress Jeanette Aw, reprising her role as Yueniang, the original protagonist, according to The Straits Times.
Jeanette Aw’s Return to Yueniang
Jeanette Aw, who also portrayed Yueniang’s mute mother Juxiang in “The Little Nyonya,” expressed her excitement on social media about reprising the iconic role.
On Instagram, the 44-year-old shared, “Never have I ever thought that 16 years on, I’d be invited to reprise this role of Yueniang Yamamoto. See you on-screen soon.”

Scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2025 on Channel 8, “Emerald Hill” promises to continue the legacy of its predecessor.
The narrative introduces new characters and plotlines while retaining the essence of the original series. The three female leads are rising actress Tasha Low, Chantalle Ng of “My Star Bride” (2021) fame, and Ferlyn G, a former member of the now-defunct K-pop girl group Skarf.
Low commented on the news by reposting a post by 8 Days on her Instagram Story, saying that she was “so honoured to be part of this”.

Ng also posted a video on Instagram of herself getting the news that she had been cast in the role of the antagonist in the drama, saying:
“15 years ago, I stepped onto the set of The Little Nyonya with my mother. Tears welled up as I watched her portray such an evil character.
15 years later, in a full circle moment, I step into the shoes of Anna. A cunning and vindictive girl with a tragic tale.
My first ever villainous role, sparring opposite my favourite Tash gurlll, LET’S GO!!”
