Man Driving Family to Johor Airport Confronted by Machete-Wielding Road Rage Suspect
A Malaysian Chinese driver heading to the airport with his wife and children had a terrifying encounter after his vehicle was allegedly blocked by another car before one of the occupants stepped out brandishing a machete.
The frightening incident reportedly occurred on the night of 1 August along a road leading to Senai International Airport in Johor.
A video of the confrontation has since circulated widely online, prompting concern over the escalating nature of road rage incidents.
Driver Forced to Stop Before Armed Men Approached
According to footage shared on social media, the victim was travelling in the right lane when another car overtook from the left before abruptly cutting in front and forcing him to stop.
Moments later, two men exited the vehicle.
One of them was seen holding what appeared to be a parang (machete) while repeatedly gesturing for the driver to get out of his car.
Instead of complying, the driver quickly reversed his vehicle to create distance.
When the men continued approaching, he seized an opportunity to steer into the left lane and drove away from the scene with his family still inside the vehicle.
Family Was Reportedly On The Way To Airport
According to online posts accompanying the viral video, the victim was a Chinese man who was driving his wife and children to Senai International Airport when the confrontation unfolded.
The posts also claimed the suspects were believed to be of Indian ethnicity. However, this has not been officially confirmed by the authorities, and police have not released details regarding the identities or backgrounds of those involved.
The driver has since lodged a police report over the incident.
Police Confirm Investigation Is Underway
Kulai District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee confirmed that police received a report regarding the incident on the morning of 2 August.
Authorities are currently investigating the case.
No arrests or further details have been announced as of the time of writing.
The viral video has sparked concern online, with many social media users calling for firm action against individuals who resort to intimidation or weapons during road disputes.
