He was speaking at a press conference on 3 June, saying that about 1,600 police officers and personnel have been stationed at 41 known major public areas throughout Johor to safeguard the people, including travellers.

He added that so far, “not a single foreign traveller that has visited Johor has lodged a report about being a victim of crime.”

Refuted claims by S’pore article

Zaman also refuted claims by an unnamed article by a Singapore website that listed 7 areas in Johor that are purportedly unsafe for tourists.

He criticised such reports as being irresponsible and tarnishing the image of the police and the state.

He added that the Johor police have always received good cooperation from the state government to combat and lower the crime rate in Johor.
