Crackdown on Massage Parlours: Curtains Around Massage Beds Raise Suspicion, Operators Under Investigation
In a bid to combat illegal activities in the massage industry, the Clementi Police Division and Housing and Development Board (HDB) conducted a joint operation on June 25, targeting massage establishments in Jurong East and Telok Blangah Drive. The crackdown led to the discovery of two exempted massage outlets with curtains installed around the massage beds, raising suspicions of illicit activities.
The operators of these outlets are currently assisting in investigations, as the authorities seek to determine whether the curtains were used to facilitate illegal services, such as prostitution. The use of curtains or partitions around massage beds is often a red flag for law enforcement, as it can create an environment conducive to illegal activities.
In a separate incident, an outlet in the vicinity of Holland Village was found to be operating without a valid licence. Further investigation led to the arrest of four women, aged between 29 and 50, for allegedly providing sexual services at the premises.
The operation highlights the authorities’ ongoing efforts to regulate the massage industry and prevent illegal activities from taking place. The police and HDB are working together to ensure that massage establishments operate within the bounds of the law and do not engage in illicit activities that can compromise public safety and morality.
The public is urged to report any suspicious activities or illegal services offered at massage parlours, as the authorities rely on tip-offs to take action against errant operators.
