The new Cabinet lineup was announced earlier today in a reshuffle, following Heng Swee Keat’s decision to step aside as the 4G leader.
The four possible frontrunners tipped to replace him at the Deputy Prime Minister, who will succeed Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong are:
Lawrence Wong

The 48-year-old is the new Finance Minister, where he was the Second Minister since 2016.
PM Lee said that Wong was a natural fit for the job because he had been assisting Heng Swee Keat since 2016.
Wong was the appointed Minister for Education in 2020.
Chan Chun Sing

The 51-year-old will be the next Minister of Education, replacing Lawrence Wong and relinquishing his post as the Minister of Trade and Industry.
Chan was the sole minister of the MTI, after Lim Hng Kiang retired.
He was also previously a minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry for Social and Family Development.
Ong Ye Kung

The 51-year-old will be the new Minister of Health, taking over from Gan Kim Yong, who will be heading the MTI instead.
He had been the Minister for Transport since 2020.
Ong is also slated to co-chair the Multi-Ministry Task Force (MTF) on Covid-19, alongside Lawrence Wong.
Ong was also previously the Minister for Education before he took the role of Minister of Transport.
Desmond Lee

The youngest of the four frontrunners, the 44-year-old will continue to head the Ministry of National Development.
He was also previously the Minister for Social and Family Development from 2017 to 2020, as well as being a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office.
