Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said that there is no need to tighten safe management measures at the moment, however as more Covid infections are being reported, it cannot be ruled out.

Wong was speaking to the media following a tour of a mobile vaccination centre at Nee Soon Central, and he announced that all households will be receiving 10 ART test kits, with the distribution set to start in July.

He also added that the recent rise of infections is driven by the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron sub-variants, and added that “we should expect cases to continue to rise”.

Wong also added that there is no evidence as of yet that the current infections are more severe, and that the hospitals are still able to cope with the situation, Singapore should be able to ride through the wave without the existing measures needing to be tighter.

He did, however, added that the situation is fluid.
