Truckers from Malaysia hopes that both the Malaysia and Singapore government extends the Causeway operating hours for better flow of vehicle moving in and out of causeway easing traffic congestion.
While the Second Link is open for 24 hours daily, the Causeway only operates for 12 hours, 7 am to 7 pm.
The operating hours of Causeway have been 12 hours only since last April last year whereby only a few vehicles using it due to the measurements of Covid-19 in Singapore.
Since September, the number of trucks and lorries moving in and out from both Customs has risen due to many business transactions between Singapore and Malaysia. Believing that it could go higher during the Chinese New Year period.
The cargo drivers were made to wait for long hours due to the heavy traffic congestion resulting in a delay in deliveries to and fro both countries.
