A 19-year-old college student was found dead with 61 stab wounds in Malaysia, in a brutal murder case that has shocked the nation.
Police confirmed that the victim, a female student enrolled in her third semester at a local college, was discovered in a paddy field located in Kampung Simah, Ketereh, in the state of Kelantan early on May 1.
According to Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat, forensic examinations revealed the victim suffered extensive injuries across multiple parts of her body.
Authorities stated that the victim sustained 61 stab wounds from her face down to her legs, with most injuries concentrated on the right side of her body.
Investigators believe the woman may have been murdered at another location before her body was transported and dumped in the paddy field.
Police Launch Murder Investigation
The horrifying discovery prompted an immediate police investigation, with officers actively tracking down individuals suspected to be involved in the killing.
The motive behind the murder remains unclear as investigations continue.
Police are currently treating the case as murder under Section 302 of the Malaysian Penal Code, a charge that carries severe penalties upon conviction.
The case has drawn widespread attention across Malaysian social media, where many expressed shock over the brutality of the attack, particularly given the young age of the victim.
Local authorities have not yet publicly disclosed whether the victim knew the suspects or whether there were signs of robbery, personal conflict, or other motives linked to the killing.
The police chief also confirmed that forensic teams are continuing to analyse evidence gathered from both the crime scene and surrounding areas.
Violent Crime Case Sparks Public Concern
The case has reignited concerns over violent crimes involving young victims in Malaysia, particularly cases involving excessive violence.
Security experts note that the unusually high number of stab wounds may indicate extreme rage, emotional motives, or prolonged assault behaviour, though police have not officially commented on potential motives at this stage.
Residents in the area were reportedly alarmed by the discovery, with many expressing fears over public safety following the gruesome incident.
The tragedy also sparked conversations online about women’s safety, crime prevention, and the growing need for stronger security awareness among students and young adults.
As investigations continue, police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward to assist authorities.
The victim’s death has since become one of the most talked-about crime stories in Malaysia this week, with many closely following updates surrounding the ongoing manhunt and forensic investigation.
