A 38-year-old man was shot by a masked attacker shortly after purchasing eggs from a convenience store in Simpang Ampat, Penang, on the morning of Jul. 27.
The victim had reportedly just completed a gym workout before stopping at the shop to buy eggs. As he was about to get into his car, he was confronted by a man dressed in a black jacket and wearing a mask.
According to local media reports, the gunman opened fire several times without warning, triggering panic in the area.
Victim Fled Into Nearby Eatery
In an attempt to escape, the victim ran into a nearby eatery while the attacker chased after him.
The suspect allegedly continued firing multiple shots during the pursuit. The victim was struck in the hand before the gunman abandoned the attack and fled the scene in a waiting car.
Emergency responders later transported the injured man to hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities have not disclosed how many rounds were fired or whether anyone else was injured during the incident.
