Incident Happened Outside Anime Convention

The altercation occurred outside Doujin Market 2026, a popular anime and cosplay convention taking place over two days at Suntec City.

Earlier in the day, videos circulating online showed Yee being punched and kicked by a cosplayer dressed as Yuji Itadori from the anime series “Jujutsu Kaisen”.

Footage shared across social media platforms captured Yee crouching on the ground while being repeatedly struck outside the convention hall.

The incident quickly went viral among Singapore’s anime and cosplay community, generating heated online discussions and concerns about safety at fan events.

Amos Yee Had Earlier Been Banned From Event

Before the incident, organisers of Doujin Market 2026 had publicly announced that Yee’s tickets had been cancelled after attendees raised concerns about his planned appearance at the convention.

The organisers also stated they were working to ban him from future events.

Despite this, Yee reportedly still appeared at the venue and was seen by attendees around the convention premises.

Prior reports circulating online claimed the attacker alleged that Yee had attempted to molest another attendee, although no official confirmation has been issued regarding those allegations.

Police have not publicly disclosed further details about the circumstances leading up to the altercation.

Online Reactions Intensify Following Arrest

The case has sparked significant reactions online due to Yee’s controversial history and previous criminal convictions in the United States involving child sexual exploitation offences.

At the same time, many social media users also pointed out that taking matters into one’s own hands through physical violence could still result in criminal consequences under Singapore law.

The arrest has renewed discussions about event security, crowd management and how organisers should handle controversial individuals attending large public gatherings in Singapore.
