MAN ARRESTED FOR CHEATING ELDERLY MONEY, SAY HE COULD HELP TO APPLY FOR GOVERNMENT GRANT

A 36-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in cheating. The police were alerted on the 03 Sep 2020 at 4.55 pm by an elderly victim who claimed that he was deceived by a man.

Apparently, the man told the elderly that he was able to help him to apply for a government grant through the ATM. The man then asked the elderly for his ATM card and PIN number. After obtaining the card and the PIN, the man proceeds to withdraw a total of $1,300 from the elderly account.

After investigations, the police managed to identify the man identity and arrested him on the same day. The man will be charged in court today (05 Sep) for cheating and theft.

If convicted of cheating, the man could face a jail term up to 10 years and fine. If convicted for theft, the man could face a jail term up to 3 years, fine or both.
