
According to a Police media release, the Police arrested a 43-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of a vehicle component part.
The incident happened on 21 July 2021 at around 4.25 PM. The Police said they received a report from a victim that the battery from his lorry was stolen while it was parked at an open-space carpark located along Whampoa Drive.
Tanglin Police Division investigated the case and was uncover the identity of the man through investigations and reviewing Police CCTV footage. The man was arrested on 29 July 2021.
Police investigations are ongoing.
If the man is convicted of the offence of theft of a motor vehicle or any of its component parts he can face a jail sentence of up to seven years and a fine.
The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Park in well-lit areas;
- Install an anti-theft alarm system; and
- Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when vehicle is parked, even if it is for a short while.
