Wondering do fresh grad really earns that much nowadays? Saw post mentioning that they just graduated and earn a mediocre salary of high 4k + to 5k. Is the median pay really ~4.5k for fresh grad?

When I just started working, my salary was a low 3k. After working in the audit industry for 2 years, my salary is currently still lower than those fresh graduates despite working for long hours. Am I getting low balled or it’s just unfortunate that I’m in the wrong industry.

- Really depends on industry and company. Usually techs are earning a lot. One my friend from NUS computing, she was offered 7k starting but turn it down cause another company offered her 9k starting. If in US, tech company 10k-20k is not really an issue.
- EVERYTHING is a bell curve. There’s always a range in the salaries for each role. And it’s usually a pretty wide range. Assuming those anonymous people who volunteer info on the internet are telling the truth, you’ll find that the higher your salary, the more you would like to repeat it to as many people as you can.
- Common. 10yrs ago when i was a fresh degree grad, my starting salary is akin to what a starting salary of an ITE grad gets now.
- Audit is by rank lol, if you nv get promoted, ofc your money won’t increase.
- Unfortunately you are in the wrong industry, as an auditor you would only join audit if you want to gain experience and your Chartered Accountant certification. The audit industry knows this and use it as a bargaining chip to give low pay. In addition, the industry is also contented to bring in our neigbouring country who would accept the low pay as in their country it would still translate higher than their auditor’s pay in their home country.
