Bean sprouts, commonly known as “tau geh,” are a polarizing ingredient in various dishes. Many people have a strong aversion to them, leading to a peculiar situation where some are willing to pay extra to have them removed from their meals.
A recent incident took place in Malaysia where a diner asked for “no beansprouts” in their food but got them anyway, and they took matters into their own hands, painstakingly removing 92 pieces of bean sprouts from their fried noodles.
The Tale of the 92 Bean Sprouts
The story begins with a diner in Malaysia who, like many others, cannot tolerate the presence of bean sprouts in their meals.
Upon ordering fried noodles, this individual took a proactive approach and instructed the hawker not to include any bean sprouts.
Despite this specific request, the diner still received bean sprouts in his food, and he then very patiently removed them one by one.
A Remarkable Display
The incident, which transpired on November 5, was initially shared on a Facebook group dedicated to the Johor Bahru community.
The post included two revealing photos from the dining experience. In the first image, the packed fried noodles were neatly separated from the vegetables, shrimp, and, of course, a formidable pile of bean sprouts.
However, it was the second photo that truly captured the essence of the situation. The diner had meticulously arranged the 92 bean sprouts in perfect rows, revealing the sheer number of unwanted additions to their meal.
The Dilemma of Bean Sprout Haters
The post on Xiaohongshu was accompanied by a caption that expressed the diner’s frustration: “I told the hawker not to put bean sprouts when frying the noodles! He still put in 92 bean sprouts!”
This exclamation reflects the shared sentiment of many individuals who simply want to enjoy their meals without the intrusion of this particular ingredient.
