He was charged on 2 January for voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon.

The incident happened on 31 December at about 4.53pm at Block 372 Jurong East Avenue 1, where the accused stabbed a 47-year-old man in the back with scissors under block 338 before punching another 44-year-old man near Block 337.

He then went home to sleep after the attacks, before the police arrested him within 3 hours of the police report being lodged.

Shin Min Daily News reported that the police had gotten the keys to his home from his mother, who had left the house at 3pm that day.

She reportedly saw her unemployed son drinking alone while sitting by the door before she left, before getting a call from the police asking her to hand over the keys to the unit.

She said that she didn’t know what was happening at the time and the police then took her son away, adding that they would notify her when the investigation was finished.

He is currently being remanded at Changi Prison Medical Centre for psychiatric assessment.
