Smuggling gold into India is far more common than one can imagine. As gold is a hardly demanded material in India it is normally more expensive and many would often try to bring gold from foreign countries to “save cost”.
According to the Time of India, the man was arrested after trying to smuggle the gold at New Delhi.
Over 604 grams of gold were found on the man which is worth almost S$40,000, the gold was hidden under his wig and stuffed into his rectum.
The Delhi Customs Office said:
“A gold smuggling case booked on a passenger from Abu Dhabi at IGI Airport T3; approx 630.45g of gold worth Rs 30.55 lakhs was concealed inside his wig & rectum. Accused arrested; further probe underway”.
A video of the gold getting removed from the man’s head was taken by the officials and posted online.
