A Facebook user shared his story about knowing his colleague using fake details to get a management post at an MNC. He is thinking that good people always are at a disadvantage.
The user also wonders if he should be doing the same to advance his career.
Here is the story:
“I have a friend that is in his early 30s and managed to secure a senior management position at an MNC with very little experience.
He told me the secret to climbing is to cheat and lie. Back in 2008, the man was still serving his sentence after he committed a crime that ended up with him receiving corporal punishment which includes not only a jail sentence but also receiving a few strokes of the rotan.
In his resume, it is stated that he is working as a customer service/coordinator at a local company in 2008. But the fact is, it happened in 2010. After working for 3 months in the company he modified his resume and stated that he was working for over a year.
He then used the fake resume to apply for another job to secure a few hundred dollars worth of increment, he continued working for short periods of time and job hop with all fake details in his resume. It did not stop till he managed to secure a senior management position at an MNC.
It makes me wonder, we have people from overseas using fake degrees and we have local people faking their experience to climb the corporate ladder. Should I continue to be an honest working-class or should I follow the footsteps of my friend but forever be labeled a cheater with no integrity.
But at the same time, I was thinking if I should report this matter to the boss of the company.”
