Just got fired at the end of a 3 month probation for out performing my manager and raising a concern in a constructive way in line with the supposed company culture and values.
All under totally fabricated and exaggerated reasons.
This guy couldn’t even look me in the eye and was as white as a sheet delivering the news as he knew it was total nonsense.
The truth is that he hated sharing my successes and was hypercritical of everything I did and was constantly seeking ways to criticise me.
Other team members had also noticed this in our dynamic and had even said that it’s clear this guy my manager is trying to do whatever he can to prove I shouldn’t be there.
When I smashed all the performance targets he was shocked and then fabricated reasons as to why i don’t fit in to the environment and how there are hesitancies around my approach to work.
I’d developed great working relationships with the whole team and this guy hated the fact i was doing so well.
Turns out time spent in a company is more important that the right thing to do in supporting an isolated and manipulated team member.

- I usually do just enough to get by during the probation period if there is one for this reason. Managers see you as a threat instead of an asset if you’re outperforming people.
- Unfortunately if it’s one thing I learned, as soon as an incompetent manager views someone as a threat to their position, that person becomes Enemy #1 and thus on the shit list.
It’s currently happening where I work, where incompetent and inexperienced managers in a multi million dollar company aren’t willing to listen to the more experienced employees (I’ve only been here 1.5 years) and a lot of the ones speaking out are being snubbed every step of the way.
