Krishnan Raju 53, was sentenced to 10 years of jail after he pleaded guilty for killing his wife Raithena Vaithena Samy, 44, over the suspicions of her cheating on him.
Krishnan Raju has stabbed his wife several times when she was in the shower in their Loyang condominium. After committing the crime, he fled to Malaysia to stay with his brother for a night before surrendering himself at the Woodlands checkpoint the next day.
The man was diagnosed with delusion disorder and psychiatrist said that his condition has made him not being able to make rational decisions. However, he was still able to understand the consequences of his actions.
The man committed the crime after being under the influence of alcohol and being triggered by an audio recording which he recorded her wife talking to another man. Krishnan Raju showed remorse by wanting to kill himself, surrendering the next day and pleaded guilty.
For his crime, Krishnan Raju could be jailed for life or up to 20 years and caning. In this case, Krishnan Raju will not be caned as he is above the age of 50.
