MAN PAID 50 CENTS FOR CUP OF WATER, COFFEESHOP BOSS SAYS DUE TO INCREASED BILLS

Facebook user Richard Goh shared a photo of a cup of water that he bought from a coffeeshop in Serangoon, saying that it costs 50 cents.

He captioned his photo:

“Kimly coffee shop Blk 237 Serangoon Avenue 3, #01-130, S’Pore 550237. Just plain water cost $0.50 cents. Your say ………expensive or not ?”

The owner of the coffeeshop, Zhang, then poke to Shin Min Daily News and explained that “prices have increased by a lot recently”, saying that they only recently upped the price of hot water from 40 cents to 50 cents.

He added that “everyone knows that the water and electricity bills are increasing, and workers need to be paid for boiling the water and washing the cups.”

He added that he didn’t have a choice but to charge 50 cents for the water.
