Should I quit my job after one year?
I started working in 2021 and secured a job with a big tech firm. However, I did not like my job scope there and left after 8 months into the job.
In my current role, I feel there is a lack of opportunity for my personal development. The management lacks the foresight in supporting employees individual growth and is only concerned with the short term profit margin. I was initially given a rough breakdown on the goals of my team and what my boss had in mind for each of us before and after joining the firm, but at the end of the year none of the goals were met. There’s also close to no feedback for improvement, and I felt very stagnant in my time here.
As im approaching my one year mark in my current firm, im hoping to find a job that can offer better support in terms of individual and job progression.
However, im worried that future employers will doubt me given that my first 2 jobs all ended in a year or less. Im also worried that i would land myself in another situation like my current job.
How should i go about convincing interviewers on my credibility and ability to stay in a job, and what are some types of questions i should pose to them to avoid getting mismatched expectations again?
Here are what netizens think:
- No wrong in job hopping, most important is you can gain more work experience and put it to good use.
- Anything less than 2 yrs on ur 1st or 2nd jobs will look bad on your resume.. Dun expect growth or development at a company unless u had been there contributing to profits directly to the company for more than 3 yrs at least. Companies generally look for employees tat can fullfil a need with pay. Why should they invest in you b4 u even contributed significantly?
- Although ita fine to hop job, the duration is short. They will have doubts to hire u that way. But of ure lucky, who knows third time is a charm
