The Singapore authorities have assured that there is an ample amount of chicken in Singapore as live chickens that are imported into Singapore are not the main source of chicken.

There is no need for panic buying. (Not to mention xia suay).

Farmers in Malaysia have been rushing to send orders to Singapore before the ban starts.

Local factories are also processing as many Chickens as they can to ensure ample supply.

Joke

A man’s joke on Facebook went viral after he made a comment about the impending chicken ban.

In his post, he posted a photo of a woman in the background with an icon of a chicken in the centre of the photo.

Other than this post, there have been multiple listings on Carousells which are listing chicken dishes or products at ridiculous prices

The post was captioned with:

Here are what netizens think:

  • This is definitely going to lead to an immediate supply crunch… because for sure people will start the panic buying already.
  • doubt so… chicken, particularly fresh chicken, cant be kept for long anyway. so whats the point in panic buying
  • then why not just buy frozen chicken, Singapore doesn’t really get frozen chicken from malaysia anyway so it doesn’t matter
  • Perhaps chicken rice hawkers would have to switch to using frozen chicken? Taste would be different but I guess it’s better than raising prices even more.
