A man said that there is a materialistic culture in Singapore he said that often people are compared with what they wear and they are immediately judged on what they look on the outside.
Here is the story:
Between friends, it is always about comparing money who has the latest bags who has the latest branded goods who drives the biggest or sportiest car. Why so bo Liao and compare about what they have? It’s nothing to be proud of, instead of bragging about what you have, Isn’t it better to work on what we don’t have instead of wasting time comparing with others?
An old friend of mine recently contacted me and said that he wants to meet up for coffee not long after the conversation starts he started to say that used to drive a sports car but ended up losing his license when he got caught for drink-driving. and he has no choice but to sell the car.
He claimed that his staying in a condominium and said that he have plenty of cash. (He was so proud of his non-existent wealth) Yes, I already knew that he wasn’t doing so well from my other friends.
Whenever I meet up with a particular group of friends they always compare t-shirts and watches. some of them wear fake Rolex some of them will wear a fake Givenchy t-shirt And they would often look down on me for not wearing anything branded.
Most of them were so proud that they spend their parent’s money to buy branded and trying to show off with “Daddy’s Money”. (They are almost 30 years old and so proud of spending their parent’s money). Until one day I attended a wedding dinner and wore nice clothes and a Rolex then they started paying attention to me.
I only wear it for events as I do not like to wear watches and prefer to dress casually.
Moral of the story, most people are superficial and dumb.
