MAN SCARED OF OUTSIDE WORLD, DOESN’T WORK & DEPENDS ON FATHER TO SUPPORT HIM

Can I survive in Singapore without working?

I have been isolating myself for many months now because I am scared of the outside world. I am really afraid of people and I get down mentally often.

I don’t know if I can do anything with my future but I do have aspirations… it’s just that I am scared to meet other people and I am scared to work because of people.

I mean I am okay with working but I’m just scared of them. I have been staying inside for so long now… I think since covid and I continue to depend on my dad buy I do support him with some of my personal work I do at home.

Your mental health is important. If this continues, please go to the IMH A&E or any emergency room and tell them you are not okay. Your doctor will help you but you’ll have to follow his advice and prescription.

Ensure you eat regularly and don’t skip a meal. Open your home windows and let in as much natural sunlight as possible. If you feel like you’re languishing away at home, force yourself to go outside and do some physical activity or take a walk.

You mentioned that you were targeted since school, rest assured because there are many people in Singapore that went through the same experience as you. Kids will be kids and teenagers will be teenagers and they’re stupid, so pay them no mind, it’s all in the past now. What field do you aspire to work in? the same thing happening in the professional world is rare so you don’t have to worry about that.

Of course, I will encourage you to combat your paranoia and find a job to communicate with your colleagues. Please stop looking for echo chambers on Reddit that only serve to reinforce any negative worldview. Find a job in your field so that you have a steady stream of income – you can’t depend on your parents forever. Start with the small things like greeting your neighborhood cleaner or your colleagues when you pass by them and you’ll find that it’ll help a lot and you’ll slowly grow accustomed to speaking with people. It’s every little bit that counts.
