MAN SEEN RESISTING ARREST BY POLICE, TRIED TO BREAK FREE

A video emerged online showing a man being arrested by the police, although the nature of his alleged offence was not disclosed.

The man was seen struggling in the middle of the road with the police officers, before being pinned down by the officers with the help of two other passers-by.

Even after being arrested, he was seen struggling and resisting, as well as trying to break free from their grasp.

Potential penalties

Persons who intentionally obstructs an officer from carrying out his duty and/or resists lawful apprehension by officers face a fine of up to $20,000, as well as a jail term of up to 3 years.

Anyone who causes annoyance or inconvenience to others in the vicinity or in any public setting could face fines of up to $1,000.
