The man’s wife was six months pregnant when he strangled her with a towel after both of them fight over their finances. It was reported that the tragedy happened after the man’s wife insulted him in front of their daughter calling him useless.

After killing his wife, the man decides to kill himself and their daughter thinking to reunite the family after death. He then strangled his daughter and slept beside their body for seven days before he tried to kill himself but failed.

The man then decided to burn himself but ended up backing out. The murder was later uncovered by the man’s brother-in-law on the first day of Chinese New Year in 2017. The man’s brother-in-law went over their place to check on them as his sister was not responding to the family’s texts and calls.

To his horror, the man’s brother-in-law found that his sister was killed by the man.

During the court hearing, the defence lawyer said that his client is suffering from major depression and asked for the conviction to be changed to culpable homicide instead of murder.

However, the request was rejected by the judge due to the man’s behaviour after the killing. The judge pointed out that the man was able to make several excuses to people who are looking for his family.

He also left the air-conditioning on to slow down the decomposition of the bodies and even updated his wife’s Facebook account making people think that she is still alive. He was found being able to surf the net and go out for food regularly after the killing. His behaviour does not show a sign that he is suffering from major depression.

The Judge thinks that the man knew what exactly he is doing therefore the sentence of death penalty stands. However, the man tends to appeal against his sentence and conviction.
