Another 4 more charges were considered for his sentencing.

What happened?

He had taken intimate photos of 3 women on 7 occasions across 10 days between 2 March to 12 March earlier this year.

He was finally caught on 12 March when the boyfriend of one of the victims noticed him standing behind the woman with his phone below her skirt.

The boyfriend then confronted Phua and checked his phone, and he found a photo of his girlfriend’s backside.

Phua was subsequently arrested and his phone was then seized, and investigations then revealed that he had taken upskirt photos of other victims.

Stressed

Phua defended himself saying that if anything upsets him, he tries to keep it to himself and that he cannot show his wife and two children his weakness and that he is not good at expressing himself

He added that he tries to present himself as a strong man but deep down inside he cannot handle his emotions well.

The prosecutor then said that it isn’t clear how his stress was linked to his offence.

Phua is expected to serve his jail term on 27 December.
